Healthcare supply chain wastes about $25B a year, or about $11M per facility. The waste is caused by a variety of factors, like physician preference items, minimum purchase requirements, decreased usage of an item, and the list goes on.
While we need to address these inefficiencies, blockchain has the potential to streamline supply chain by allowing hospitals to purchase directly from manufacturers, removing cost layers from the healthcare supply chain. Blockchain can also facilitate FDA recalls and track-and-trace requirements.
