Survey says...

Utilization of supplies is a problem in the majority of health organizations, according to a study of 306 clinicians and hospital supply chain decision makers by Cardinal Health.

Three out of four supply chain VPs/managers, nurse managers, nurses, and purchasing agents surveyed cited wasting and overutilization of supplies as a significant or somewhat significant problem. A full 81 percent of department managers said the same.

The study identifies several challenges that contribute to supply chain inefficiencies and staff frustrations that impact the amount of time clinicians are able to spend with patients.

With financial concerns cited as the single biggest issue facing their organization in 54 percent of respondents,  it is important to address these challenges and gain efficiencies in supply chain.
